Ashlee
Isn't Alone, Ask KISS & Evanescence |
Blabbermouth reports: In the wake of the recent
Ashlee Simpson lip-syncing controversy, a concert-industry source has told
Rolling Stone magazine that many rock bands use backing tracks in concert,
too, to recreate the studio sound of their albums. "A lot of the heavy
acts do that they thicken up the guitar sounds when they play live,"
the source said. "KISS has backing tracks galore." And bands aren't embarrassed
by it. "When you go into the recording studio, you have layers and layers
of guitars," said EVANESCENCE manager Dennis Rider. "Unless you have three
or four guitar players onstage, you can't duplicate that. And people want
to hear the record they bought." - Click

Gorgoroth
Cause Riot |
Blabbermouth reports: Norwegian black metallers
GORGOROTH made headlines in major Latin American newspapers after the audience
rioted at their show in San Salvador (capital of El Salvador) on Saturday
(Nov. 6). According to a posting on the band's web site, "the audience
got so ecstatic over the presence of the first black metal act visiting
their country that the situation got totally out of control. The security
and the police could not handle the people outside the venue so they had
to call in the special forces, 'del cuerpo de Proteccion a Personalides
Importantes' (PPI). When the PPI reached the venue the masses of people
not getting a ticket for the already sold-out show kicked in the entrance
door and lots of fighting between the audience began. The audience started
to kick in doors and toilets, several injuries occured and major damages
to the venue. The PPI decided in the end to use gas on the audience to
get the situation under control.[see full story for more]-

Rob Zombie Movie |
Blabbermouth reports: Rob Zombie's second
project as a feature film director, "The Devil's Rejects", has been given
a release date of August 12, 2005. Although a February release for the
movie had been previously rumored, Zombie himself announced online last
week that the picture would not be finished in time for that. "The Devil's
Rejects" is the sequel to Zombie's directorial debut, 2003's "House Of
1000 Corpses". The rocker-turned-filmmaker has said that this movie will
be much darker and nastier than its predecessor. [see full story for more]-

News: Fat Jet |
NME reports: JET are planning to put some
heavyweight work into the follow-up to their debut album 'GET BORN' - by
piling on the pounds.
The band, who have been rigorously touring
their first LP throughout the year, are now planning to head into the studio
to begin work on their second.
Bassist Mark Wilson revealed: "I will start
my regimen to get extremely fat, 'cause I got a couple months off. I want
to be one of those guys who they have to take the front of their house
off and get a crane in and put them in the back of a flatbed truck 'cause
they're too big to fit in the ambulance. That's my goal in life." [see

Purple
Rain Club Closed |
Pitchfork reports: First Avenue, the famed
Minneapolis concert venue that has fostered the city's independent music
scene since the early 1980s, shut down last Tuesday, as a result of a year-long
struggle amongst those involved in running the club. During its 34-year
tenure, First Avenue was a Twin Cities fixture and served as a launchpad
for acts like Prince (who filmed several performances for 1984's Purple
Rain there), The Replacements, and Hüsker Dü-- not to mention
innumerable other non-local indie artists touring the midwest. One faction
in the dispute has begun plans for a new nightclub in the same building,
while the other is hinting that a second "First Avenue" could reappear
elsewhere in the city. [see full story for more]- Click

Boss
Kills Condo Naming |
AP reports: ASBURY PARK, N.J. - It's good
to be The Boss. Less than a month after the city broke ground on a waterfront
redevelopment project, Bruce Springsteen rendered his verdict on a planned
condominium called "The Rising," same as his Grammy-winning 2002 album
and song.
The Boss called the building name a "mistake"
and nearly immediately the developer agreed to change it, city Manager
Terry Reidy said Monday. [see full story for more, where some funny brown
