Korn Porn?
Chart Attack reports: [Korn frontman Jonathan]
Davis hopes to follow in the footsteps of Snoop Dogg and Lil' Jon by getting
into the porn industry. Davis has already signed with adult film company
Vivid Video to direct a line of films. Davis' porn star wife, Deven, has
also signed on to be a part of the project, but in what capacity we don't
really know. Previously, Davis has made guest appearances in such highbrow
adult fare as the Backstage Sluts series. - Click

Beastie Eminem Silliness
Chart Attack reports: Eminem stopped by
the Beastie Boys' dressing room to show respect to the white rappers who
paved the way for him. There was a mix-up, which, for the Beastie Boys,
could turn out to be deadly.
"It was actually funny, cause there was a little misunderstanding when he came to the dressing room," explains the group's MCA (a.k.a. Adam Yauch). "Because we'd been joking around, saying that we should have called our album Still Doin' It, Huh? and we kept on saying that. And so, when Eminem came into our dressing room, he was like, Yo, what's up, just wanted to say what's up to everybody' and we shook his hand and stuff. And then he said to us, like, Still doin' it, man, still doin' it.' And we all just burst out laughing. He kind of looked puzzled and walked out." - Click Here for the Full Story

Con-Manager Busted
AP reports: The former manager of the
band Tears for Fears was sentenced to three and a half years in jail Friday
for defrauding investors in a purported cure for drunkenness made from
volcanic rock.
Paul King, 52, was convicted of fraud at London's Southwark Crown Court. Prosecutors said he took $823,000 from business partners in Soba International Ltd., a firm set up to market the remedy in Britain.
King told partners he would use his music-industry contacts to help raise money to market the product. Instead, he set up a shadow company with the same name and siphoned off money to start other businesses and maintain a luxury lifestyle. [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story
WB Cut CD Prices
AP reports: Warner Music Group, the company
behind Madonna, Missy Elliott and Rod Stewart, is reducing the suggested
retail price on more than 1,700 albums beginning next week in a bid to
spur CD sales.
The initiative, which was outlined in a letter sent by the recording company to retailers this week, lowers the suggested retail price on 1,776 titles that have been in stores for at least 18 months.
The company's suggested price on more than 1,200 of the so-called back catalog titles will change from between $18.98 and $13.98 to $9.98. The roughly 500 other titles will have a suggested price between $13.98 and $11.98. [see full story for more] - Click Here for the Full Story

Buffett Too Loud For Town
AP reports: GULF SHORES, Ala. - City officials
say they are going to crack down on loud music at Lulu's, the coastal restaurant
owned by singer Jimmy Buffett (news) and his sister, Lucy Buffett.
"It sounds like we need to have some serious discussion with them about what is expected over there," said Mayor David Bodenhamer at a city council work session.
Jason Newsom, manager of Lulu's, said the restaurant has made compromises to accommodate its neighbors, including limiting outdoor performances to the daytime. [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story
HMV Exit US
Reuters reports: British retailer HMV
has finally admitted something the entire industry could see four years
ago: it is pulling out of the U.S. market.
The chain issued a press release April 29 stating it would close its three remaining U.S. stores by year's end. Tool/NIN Project Over
IAYM reports: Trent Reznor (Nine Inch
Nails) has made an official statement with regards to the status of long-fabled
project Tapeworm, which now appears to be defunct:
"Tapeworm is dead for the forseeable future. Let me try to explain as honestly as possible.
Tapeworm wound up being about Maynard [James Keenan], Danny [Lohner], Atticus [Ross} and me working collaboratively together. I provided some music I'd been working on as a starting point and we began. Atticus and I would work on music, Maynard and Danny would show up when Maynard could around Tool's tour. We worked on a number of tracks and had Josh Freese play drums.
Eventually however, things got in the way. Managers, lawyers, record companies, APC needs and frankly my own enthusiasm for the material came into play to work against the project seeing the light of day. [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Anthrax Unbanned
siN's metal news reports: "MTV has officially
lifted the ban on the zombie infested promo clip for the song "What Doesn't
Die" off of Anthrax's latest record, We've Come For You All.
Initially banned by the network for violent content, the decision was overturned for undisclosed reasons. When reached for comment ANTHRAX guitarist Scott Ian said, "This video needs to be seen. People need to know that this zombie menace, left unchecked, will be the death of us all!"
"The decision to air this terribly stereotypical and racist anti-zombie propaganda is deeply upsetting" said Arthur Breakstone, chairman of PETZ (People for the Ethical Treatment of Zombies). "In this day and age for the living impaired to be portrayed as shuffling shambling flesh eating monsters is an outrage. We plan on boycotting MTV and all its affiliated products and I urge all of you to let your voices be heard! PETZ will prevail in this matter and all others that slander such beautiful creatures."- Click Here for the Full Story

Jason Mraz Tour
press release reports: Elektra/Atlantic
recording artist Jason Mraz will return to the road 5/14 for a special
cross-country concert series dubbed "The Tour of the Curbside Prophets."
This one-of-a-kind trek takes its name from "Curbside Prophet," the latest
single from Mraz' debut album, "WAITING FOR MY ROCKET TO COME," which is
rapidly nearing the RIAA platinum mark.
"The Tour of the Curbside Prophets" will be a unique roadshow, bringing together a diversity of artists in what promises to be a powerful live experience. Inspired by Mraz's beginnings as a hard-working street musician, the show will create a street corner atmosphere - with Mraz "busking" for the audience as a solo acoustic performer, and inviting an array of fellow "Curbside Prophets" to join him in entertaining the crowd.
Joining Mraz on "The Tour of the Curbside Prophets" are artists who span musical worlds, including acclaimed Manhattan/EMI singer/guitarist Raúl Midón, Hawaiian slack-key guitarist/vocalist Makana, and DJ Bob Neck Snapp. All the players will perform individually as well as with each other, creating an organic musical camaraderie that can only happen on the spur-of-the-moment.
