Courtney Meltdown At Midtown
New York Dialy News reports: Courtney
Love outdid herself in Atlanta with a rambling set that left fans wondering
whether she'll be able to pull out of her spiral.
"I'd like to thank the Academy of Hell and the Devil for [messing] up my life," she told a crowd Sunday at the Music Midtown festival.
A spywitness tells us: "She started crying and was saying, 'Give me back my kid and my money.' Everyone thought that it was very disturbing."
At another point, recalls our source, "She undressed on stage and pulled out her boobs, then barely could get her bra back up."
Love eventually pushed through security to jump into an SUV full of fans who had offered to give her a lift. Says the source: "The SUV returned her to the site shortly afterward. She was a mess!" [the story is abridged, see the full story link for more] - Click Here for the Full Story

Oasis Drug Bust?
Ananova reports: Prosecutors investigating
a brawl in Munich involving Oasis star Liam Gallagher said that tests showed
he and another band member tested positive for drugs.
"The test revealed substantial quantities of alcohol and drugs," prosecutor Anton Winkler said. "It is possible he used cocaine."
Gallagher, four other members of Oasis and the band's entourage were detained for questioning following a fight at a Munich hotel on December 1, 2002 that left Gallagher with several broken teeth.
Witnesses told police at the time that the clash began in the disco of the hotel where the band was staying, and that drunken jostling between band members started a fight with other patrons. [see full story for more details]- Click Here for the Full Story
Stone Temple Brawl
Blabbermouth reports: Former STONE TEMPLE
PILOTS singer Scott Weiland has admitted to Launch that the group's breakup
wasn't quite as amicable as previously reported. Weiland, who is currently
fronting VELVET REVOVER, told Launch that he and guitarist Dean DeLeo nearly
came to blows while on tour behind their final album, "Shangri-La Dee Da".
"We had really imploded at the end of our last tour," Scott said. "Things sort of ended in a backstage brawl between Dean and I. It was rather nasty. The last show of the tour, Dean and I got into a fight backstage, and I threw a punch at his face, and it was stopped about an inch from his nose by our tour manager."
The members of STONE TEMPLE PILOTS went their own ways after that, but Weiland told Launch that he and DeLeo made peace after running into each other earlier this year in Hollywood, California. [more]- Click Here for the Full Story

High (Priced) Tunes
Wired reports: As iTunes, Rhapsody and
other song-download sites take off with consumers, it's easy to think that
the record industry finally "gets it" when it comes to selling music in
the digital age.
Not so fast, says Rob Glaser, chairman and chief executive of Real Networks, owner of the Rhapsody service.
At the Future of Music Coalition Policy Summit in Washington, D.C., Glaser recounted his general frustration in getting the record labels to offer creative pricing beyond the 99-cents-per-download model. In fact, some labels -- emboldened by consumers' apparent willingness to pay a buck a song -- are talking about raising per-song fees rather than lowering them to increase volume. SARS Flop
AP reports: Spending $12.8 million on
a concert series featuring the Rolling Stones to lift spirits after a SARS
outbreak may not have been cost-effective, said Hong Kong's financial secretary.
"We may have overestimated the impact of organizing 16 concerts," Henry Tang told a legislative panel investigating the government's handling of last year's event.
The Rolling Stones drew a good turnout, but overall the concerts were plagued by poor ticket sales and lineup flip-flops.
A recent government audit report said surveys showed the event "was on the whole not perceived by the public as good value for (the) money." [more]- Click Here for the Full Story

on a "Behind the Music" -kind of documentary dealing with the early years
of LA glam rock bad boys Guns N' Roses. Among the folks expected to contribute

of "Sparrow's" father in the Pirates sequel. [more fun by clicking on the

Hammerfall Solo
press release reports: Sweden's Hammerfall
has become world renowned in a relatively short time. Releasing 4 studio
albums and one double-live album since the band's 1997 origin has led the
band not only to much critical acclaim, but to countless world tours, including
full North American treks with legendary acts Death and Dio respectively.
The attention has led vocalist Joacim Cans to become highly recognized
in the scene. However, during the band's downtime, Cans began sowing the
seeds for a side project, one that would expand his musical boundaries
beyond the niche Hammerfall had benevolently carved for itself.
Released on May 11th through Sanctuary/Noise Records under the moniker CANS, Joacim and an all-star lineup of friends & associates composed a more visceral, poignant album entitled Beyond The Gates. The lineup for the album consists of Cans on vocals, Hammerfall co-conspirator Stefan Elmgren on guitar, Matt Sinner (Primal Fear, Sinner) on bass, Mark Sonder (Fates Warning) on drums, and Metal Mike Chlasciak (Halford, Painmuseum, Testament) on lead guitar. Cans explains the composition of the album, "Hammerfall is a trademark that represents a very specific style of music, that's just the way it is. That was mainly why I wanted to do this album "to be able to try some fresh ideas and not be locked into a certain way of writing." His plan worked, with dynamic results.
