Kelly Osbourne Goes Pop
AP reports: Kelly Osbourne says that she's
decided to go in a whole new direction from her first album, which she
says was a lost cause because she was so young.
"To fill the shoes of rock and roll because of the family I have, is a really hard thing," she said in an interview with AP Radio. "That's not really my deal. I don't really like rock. I like '80s pop. I really went in an '80s direction this time." - Click Here for the Full Story
Hendrix Litigated
Newsday.com reports: Relatives of the
late guitar legend Jimi Hendrix returned to court Monday to begin another
legal battle over which family members should receive money from the musician's
posthumous releases, royalties and merchandise.
The case, the latest of several that have entangled the Hendrix estate in the last decade, concerns the last will of Jimi's father, Al Hendrix, who inherited the rights to Jimi's music when the rock star died in 1970.
Jimi's brother, Leon, says he was unfairly written out of the will at the behest of his stepsister, Janie Hendrix, who runs the company in charge of the estate, Experience Hendrix LLC, with Jimi's cousin, Robert Hendrix. [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

White Stripes Vs. Filmmaker
MTV reports: A 26-year-old filmmaker who
made a documentary about the White Stripes is accusing the band of sticking
it to the little guy.
The White Stripes, meanwhile, say George Roca is taking liberties with footage they own and messing up their plans to release their own concert movie later this year.
The Westport, Connecticut, director has been hit with a cease-and-desist order demanding that he not screen his movie "Nobody Knows How to Talk to Children" at any of the eight film festivals in which it was scheduled to appear. Roca said he spent more than $50,000 over the past two years producing and editing the movie, which depicts the band in concert and backstage during four shows in April 2002 at New York's Bowery Ballroom. iTunes Lacks Indie Cred In
The UK
Wired News reports: Apple boasts about
putting 10,000 songs in music fans' pockets, but disgruntled British iTunes
Music Store customers say Steve Jobs' service just doesn't measure up.
Jobs last week fronted a high-profile European launch for the popular download service, but was forced to go live without dozens of key artists such as The Strokes and The White Stripes, after falling out with the continent's acclaimed independent labels.
Negotiations broke down on the eve of the debut, and Apple still hasn't been able to offer an online licensing deal deemed acceptable to the indies, which make up a quarter of all European music sales. [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

New Music Tuesday: The Cure
[The Cure's self-titled CD hit stores
today. Here is an excerpt from our review of the disc - you can read the
full review by clicking on the full story link] The Cure - by Zane Ewton:
..."Smith sounds defiantly confident on this album which could be directly
attributed to his newfound contentment with the band.
For those worried that the Cure has gone happy, you can relax as there are all of the moods and contents that have been scattered throughout the band's career. There are themes of loneliness, romance and alienation.
The lead-off track, "Lost" is a slow dirge that builds into a pulsing thump that just begins the roller coaster of emotions that ends but isn't resolved with "The Promise".
The Cure is cohesive with never a dull moment. This album feels like a new beginning for The Cure. - Click Here for the Full Story
