Boss To Rock GOP?
liveDaily reports: Concert promoter and

New Jersey's Giants Stadium in hopes that he can lure Bruce Springsteen
to play a concert to demonstrate opposition to President George W. Bush
during the Republican National Convention.
Rasiej has launched the website DraftBruce.com, where he is collecting signatures from fans who support his effort to stage the show.
Other artists will be lined up if Springsteen signs on, Rasiej told Reuters. He said he's approached R.E.M, the Dave Matthews Band, Bob Dylan and Carlos Santana as well. [see full story for more] - Click Here for the Full Story

Tommy Lee 86ed For Bad Music
Blabbermouth reports: The Las Vegas Sun
is reporting that former MÖTLEY CRÜE drummer Tommy Lee was at
Light (Bellagio) in Las Vegas, Nevada on Sunday (June 20) to play DJ for
a Father's Day party when things got a bit out of hand, and Lee was removed
from the club by security, according to the club's Sean Christie. "He was
playing lousy music," Christie said. "Some of it was his own and most of
it was totally unrecognizable, and the bottom line is, the crowd didn't
dig it. The last thing we were trying to do was embarrass the guy, so we
told him to wrap up his set and make a graceful exit. When he refused,
we said we would just pull the plug on him, which is what we ended up doing."

Tommy also reportedly cleared out the Key Club recently when he attempted

Velvet Revolver iProtest
Variety reports: Velvet Revolver's "Contraband"
may be the No. 1 album in America, but you won't see many hipsters bopping
their head to it on an iPod.
That's because "copy management" software that BMG installed on the CD to help combat piracy also prevents users from playing it in Apple's popular iTunes media player or transferring it to the iPod...
That's left plenty of music fans angry about the industry's latest attempt to fight illegal copying. On Amazon.com, for instance, product reviews are primarily not discussions of the actual music by the band (made up of ex-members of Guns N' Roses and Stone Temple Pilots), but complaints about the copy management with subject lines such as "Great music, horrible technology." Wilco Picture Book
Pitchfork reports: Wilco is currently
working on a picture book, with an accompanying CD, to be released by PictureBox,
Inc., a visual-culture studio based in New York. PictureBox's design, editing,
and writing team, Dan Nadel and Peter Buchanan-Smith, worked closely with
Wilco for over a year on the project, which is described as "a visual equivalent
of the band's music."
To this end, the 160-page book will feature contributions from, among others, author Rick Moody (The Ice Storm), artist Fred Tomaselli (paintings and stuff), and photographer Michael Schmelling (Spin, Wired), alongside archival material from Henry Miller (oversexed author of Tropic of Cancer, among others). Additionally, the band provides background to the book's images in the mode of long-form captions about such topics as touring and recording-- you know, all that band stuff that most of us know nothing about.
Additionally-- and here's the really good news-- a full-length 40-minute CD of unreleased material will be included in the package. [see full story for lots more including news on how a sample got the band in trouble, info on the CD and their latest tour dates] - Click Here for the Full Story
