Santana Vs. Ozzy (and other
'corny ass white people')
Blabbermouth reports: Pioneering Latin-rock
guitarist Carlos Santana has slammed Ozzy Osbourne as one of "corny-ass
white people" while reprimanding the American media for failing to give
due credit to jazz artist Elvin Jones who died recently.
Jones' death passed unnoticed without even a mention in the papers, something which Santana believes is due to the racist attitude of the press.
"I'm really embarrassed for this nation, and for MTV and VH1 and Rolling Stone, because it was a very racist thing not to acknowledge this most important musician when he passed," Santana was quoted as saying in The San Diego Union-Tribune.
"For them to play up Ozzy Osbourne and other corny-ass white people, but not Elvin, is demeaning and I'm really embarrassed to live in this country," he added. [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story
To be fair, MTV was one of the first places to report Elvin Jones' death. They had a report a few hours after it was reported on the wire services. Most of the major print media also covered his passing. To Carlos, if you are going to accuse others of racism, you might want to refrain from using racist terms while doing so. The lack of major coverage had more to do with popularity then race. Ray Charles and Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes both received a lot of media coverage when they died. (Corny-as white man that you forgot - Peter Green, who wrote "Black Magic Woman" and Rob Thomas who helped make you smooth to the masses. )
Lemmy Solo News
Blabbermouth reports: MOTÖRHEAD's
Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister spent time at Berlin's Monongo studios (web site)
last week recording more tracks for his solo project. Guitarist Jim Voxx
of SKEW SISKIN, who own the Monongo facility, is producing/recording and
mixing two of the songs for the project, and word is that he might mix
the entire CD. A full horn section was recorded, a saxophone player, a
blues piano player and a lot more, according to a posting on SKEW SISKIN's
web site. "Jim will have to turn a few buttons, to manage 54 tracks," stated
SKEW SISKIN frontwoman Nina C. Alice, "but he'll do great. Just like he
did on our current CD, 'Album Of The Year'." [see full story for more]-

Silly News: The Hip-Hip Did
Stop
Ananova reports: Missy Elliott and Kelis's

got enough buses.

Senate To Outlaw P2P, VCR,
MP3, etc.
Cnet reports: A forthcoming bill in the
U.S. Senate would, if passed, dramatically reshape copyright law by prohibiting
file-trading networks and some consumer electronics devices on the grounds
that they could be used for unlawful purposes.
The proposal, called the Induce Act, says "whoever intentionally induces any violation" of copyright law would be legally liable for those violations, a prohibition that would effectively ban file-swapping networks like Kazaa and Morpheus. In the draft bill seen by CNET News.com, inducement is defined as "aids, abets, induces, counsels, or procures" and can be punished with civil fines and, in some circumstances, lengthy prison terms.
The bill represents the latest legislative attempt by influential copyright holders to address what they view as the growing threat of peer-to-peer networks rife with pirated music, movies and software.
