More Satanic Metal Murders
Independent reports: New details have
emerged this week of an alleged cabal of young Satanists connected to Milan's
heavy metal scene, who are accused of murdering at least two people while
drunk and high.
The revelations began last week when two shallow graves were uncovered in woods near Somma Lombardo, north-west of Milan. One contained the remains of 19-year-old Chiara Marino, who according to the confession of one of the group was stabbed to death because they thought she was the personification of the Virgin Mary.
The other victim, Fabio Tollis, was a guitarist in the same group as three of the young men arrested in connection with the murders, the Circus of Satanis.
Yesterday La Repubblica newspaper linked another murder to the group: a 19-year-old nightclub singer, Maddalena Russo, who was strangled with a belt in 1985 and her body abandoned in a field. The corpse had been horribly mutilated. [see full story for a far more detailed account]- Click Here for the Full Story

Love Is the Devil, Says Her
Dad
Rockdirt.com reports: Courtney Love's
estranged father is blasting the singer in an interview with Globe magazine.
"My daughter is the devil," Hank Harrison said. He also accused Love of
being responsible for prompting her husband and Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain
from committing suicide. "I felt sorry for him because he was up against
the devil, my daughter," Harrison remarked. "Kurt was a kind and vulnerable
soul who was totally destroyed by her. I don't think that she actually
pulled the trigger, but I believe she drove him to it." -

Buying The Charts
AP reports: Controversy surrounding overnight
airplay on radio is nothing new for the recording industry. But the current
flap over tracks played late at night in label-sponsored "spin programs"
presents a new twist on past grievances.
A growing number of labels are purchasing overnight advertising time at small- to medium-size radio chains and using the time for repeated play of singles in their entirety -- sometimes hundreds of times in a given week.
These spin programs, or "spot buys," have emerged in the past year as increasingly popular tools for labels looking to influence airplay chart positions.
For instance, while much of Nashville slept during the pre-dawn hours of May 23, Avril Lavigne's latest single was airing as many as three times per hour on top 40 station WQZQ. [see the full story link for an extensive article on this new practice] - Click Here for the Full Story

Grateful Drunks
AP reports: The late Grateful Dead guitarist
Jerry Garcia was many things: musician, artist, writer, composer. Wine
connoisseur wasn't really one of them, even though J. Garcia wine, released
last year, sold out its first shipment of 22,000 cases in just 30 days,
according to the Clos du Bois winery, which is producing it with the approval
of Garcia's estate.
A second batch of wines, more than 30,000 cases of merlot, zinfandel and cabernet sauvignon, recently arrived in stores. [see full story for more] - Click Here for the Full Story
Smokey Sued By Chef
AP reports: A Louisiana chef is suing
Smokey Robinson for trademark infringement over a catchy slogan he says
he has used for years to sell gumbo and other fare.
Johnny "Jambalaya" Percle, who sued the singer last week in federal court, said he had "Soul in Yo Bowl" trademarked in 1997 after using it for a decade.
Percle's complaint says that Robinson's use of the phrase, "The Soul is in the Bowl," for his line of Louisiana foods is so similar that it will confuse consumers. [more]- Click Here for the Full Story
Love Surrenders
antiMUSIC reports: Courtney Love is no
longer America's Most Wanted as she surrendered herself to Los Angeles
police on Friday afternoon. An arrest warrant was issued for the singer
on June 2nd on a felony assault with a deadly weapon charge. On Friday,
she booked, processed, and then released on $55,000 bail.
Love faces up to four years in prison for this latest charge. The charge stemmed from a criminal complaint filed by Kristin King, a friend of Love's former manager/boyfriend, James Barber. King claims that Love assaulted her with a bottle and metal flashlight at Barber's Los Angeles home "on or about" April 25. Barber is expected to be called as a witness if this case goes to trial. - Click Here for the Full Story
Ozzy's Secret Breakdown
Electric Basement reports: Veteran bassist
RUDY SARZO recently informed Electricbasement.com readers of OZZY OSBOURNE's
stay in a mental hospital during the Diary of a Madman tour, almost leaving
the band without a frontman, "Few people know this, but he was treated
at St. John's (hospital) outside London. He had a nervous breakdown. It
was during our European tour with Saxon. We were rehearsing Tommy (Aldridge),
Don Airey, Randy (Rhoads) and myself. We were in England for the Diary
Of A Madman tour, and our singer was in a mental institution . We'd go
visit him with Sharon. She was a major instigator and would call us up:
'Come on, let's visit Ozzy!'"
"We'd visit him, and this hospital was like something out of The Elephant Man. There's Ozzy in one room with a iron headboard above his bed with a little curtain for him to change and a piss bucket and pitcher of water.
"We'd walk in the room and he'd be so happy to see us. He'd cry and laugh, cry and laugh back and forth. Total mood swings. Then he finally got released. The doctor told Sharon there was nothing they could do for him." [see full story for the full interview] - Click Here for the Full Story

Bon Jovi Inc
ArrowFM reports: Entrepreneur, rock star,
actor and football team owner, Jon Bon Jovi can now safely be considered
a modern day Renaissance man. Instead of going down that tempestuous road
of groupies, cocaine and total burn out (finding oneself playing the Roxy
with a hundred fans like many of his Eighties-hair band contemporaries),
Bon Jovi married his high school sweetheart, dipped his toes into the acting
pool and reinvented his hugely popular band. That is why business publication
Inc. Magazine has taken a special interest in the kid from Jersey and featured
him in their July issue, which hits stands on June 15th. In Inc. Magazine's
exclusive interview with the affable young lad, Bon Jovi covered such diverse
topics as George Bush Sr., Frank Sinatra and Guns N' Roses. [see full story
