Megadeth Megalawsuits
Chart Attack reports: [Megadeth's] Ellefson
is suing Mustaine for at least $18.5 million. Last month the bass player
filed a claim alleging that Mustaine was hogging the Megadeth profits even
though the two founding members had an agreement that should have allotted
Ellefson a more generous percentage of merchandise and publishing revenues.
Ellefson is also claiming that Mustaine bad-mouthed him on online postings
to the point of libel.
So what does a heavy metal star do when his longtime bandmate sues him? He sues back.
Last week Mustaine filed a countersuit in which he claims that Ellefson gave up his stake in Megadeth after signing a settlement agreement. Ellefson acknowledges that he agreed to the settlement, but claims that Mustaine strong-armed him into it. [see full story for more] - Click Here for the Full Story
Manson's Jesus
Chart Attack reports: As we initially
reported way back in April, the always lovable Marilyn Mason is busy preparing
a Greatest Hits album commemorating his illustrious career. The disc is
due this fall and ChartAttack can now reveal a full tracklisting.
In addition to all of Manson's most memorable songs (including covers like "Tainted Love" and "Sweet Dreams"), the unholy one has recorded a brand new song that will act as the album's single. The new track is a cover of Depeche Mode's "Personal Jesus," which is apparently far more affective than the original (or the slightly lackluster Johnny Cash version). Joyfest
press release reports: Joyzine & Filthy
Little Angels have organised a music festival at Hackney Ocean on 14th
& 15th August, to raise funds and awareness for the Love Music Hate
Racism campaign.
Joyfest will see 28 of the most exciting bands currently on the live circuit, drawing heavily from the London DIY scene which has recently been attracting intense media attention (Art Brut, The Rocks, The Violets, Neils Children, The Rakes + more), as well as like-minded acts from further afield (X is Loaded, Black Nielson, The Favours).
The bands will play across 2 stages, Ocean 2 (capacity 300) and Ocean 3 (100), performances will be staggered, meaning that there will never be 2 bands on at the same time, and performances will be projected on a large screen, meaning that even if you can't get into the room, you can still catch every second of the action.
We shall also be presenting an exhibition of music related film, photography and art, including contributions from musicians and Joyzine contributors. Joyfest is also putting together a compilation CD, featuring many of the acts performing at this year's event, including The Rocks, Ludes, Gin Palace & Campag Velocet. The CD will be limited to 180 copies, and will only be available to but at Joyfest. - Click Here for the Full Story
