Get MP3s For Pennies
tinfoil reports: A Russian online music
service is offering songs online for one cent per megabyte in a format
that you choose.
Charles Wright, a Sydney Morning Herald reporter, discovered the site, allofmp3.com, and has been using it. So far he has downloaded 968 songs of big name artists for just under $50. The same songs with the typical price tag of 99 cents a song comes out to $958 or with Walmart¹s cheaper 88 cent/song service a total of $851.84.
The site charges users on a per megabyte system. The offering is approximately one MB for one cent. The site seems too cheap to be true but the site claims to be legal and licensed its content from the Russian Multimedia and Internet Society with a license number of LS-3M-03-79. Best Guitar Solos of All
Time
tinfoil reports: About.Com recently reported
on a Guitar World Magazine readers poll. The poll was to determine the
greatest guitar solos of all time, and they listed the top 100 solos. While
it's bound to spawn some controversy, it certainly hits closer to the mark
than last years "best guitarist" poll in another publication. With a top
10 that includes "Eruption" (Eddie Van Halen), "Crazy Train" (Randy Rhoads),
and "All Along the Watchtower" (Jimi Hendrix), it's obvious the poll has
a rock music bias, but there is no disputing the impact that these artists
have had on popular music. - Click

Weiland Threatens Critic
Blabbermouth reports: VELVET REVOLVER
singer Scott Weiland has slammed Maxim magazine writer Jon Caramanica over
his review of the group's debut album, "Contraband".
[Weiland's comments are below - see full story for the review]
"In his review of our album 'Contraband', Jon Caramanica of MAXIM knows about as much about me and my legal situation as he does about our music. The article mentions my legal status which states that I will be eligible for release from rehab in July. Sorry to break your heart and take the wind from your sails but I was sprung from rehab on the 22nd of April. Now Jon, Jon, Jon come on now my 'boozy' charm? Unless you were born yesterday you would know I was a dope fiend, not a boozer. Let's just get down to it Jon, this album sounds nothing like 'Appetite' and you know nothing about me, so if you're gonna make a record 'Album of the Month' then stop the punk-ass back-handed comments!
"Let's meet up face-to-face and see just how 'boozy' I am in person when I get 'manic' on your ass motherf***er!" - Click Here for the Full Story

Digital Guitar
AP reports: As Gibson Guitar Corp. launches
a new digital model, company CEO Henry Juszkiewicz can close his eyes and
almost hear the music.
"The defining moment will be when a certain lick in a popular song is out there, and it can't be done with anything else but a digital guitar," Juszkiewicz says. "It only takes one example to really inspire people."
That, Juszkiewicz hopes, will usher in the age of the digital guitar much the same way as the Beatles and Rolling Stones inspired a generation of young people to pick up a standard electric guitar in the 1960s.
The digital guitar uses computer chips to clean up the signal Juszkiewicz describes the new sound as traditional but "on steroids."
It also allows the player to control the sound of each string. For example, the guitarist can have a heavy metal crunch on the low strings, medium distortion on the middle strings and a clean sound on the high strings. [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story
