Labels Hiking Prices
MTV reports: The Wall Street Journal reported
Wednesday that the major music labels are looking for ways to increase
the prices of legitimate digital-download services, from 99 cents per song
up to $1.49 or even $2.49 per song. WSJ also found that despite being freed
of manufacturing and distribution costs, albums such as those recently
released by N.E.R.D., Bob Dylan and Shakira actually cost more to download
($14.99 at iTunes) than to buy as a CD in stores ($13.49 at Amazon.com).

Homme Claims K.O.
Rockdirt reports: Queens of the Stone
Age frontman Josh Homme insisted to The New York Post he was the victor
in his buzzed-about bar brawl in the East Village the other night, despite
his publicist's confirmation that he was "hurt" during the brawl at Niagara.
"The guy was talking sh** to my girlfriend and her friend, so I asked him
to leave. When he didn't, I knocked him out," Homme said. As for claims
of his injuries, Homme scoffed, "Look at me, I don't have a scratch on
me. Clear my dirty name!" - Click

Courtney Face-lift Suit
Rockdirt reports: Courtney Love wound
up in court for refusing to face up to a bill for a face-lift-like procedure.
"Courtney had a 'Diamond Dermabrasion' face-lift to try to get rid of sun
damage as well as drug and alcohol damage to her skin," an insider explained.
"Diamond Dermabrasion is an ingenious treatment using diamond-shaped crystals.
It's a combination of scraping and suction that Courtney's beauty therapist,
Regina Knobel, described as 'sandblasting the skin.' Courtney said she
loved the way she looked afterward but blew off paying Knobel her fees.
Knobel's office tried repeatedly to collect $3,304 from Courtney but she
ignored the statements as well as the calls from the collection agency.
So as a final resort, Knobel decided to file a lawsuit in small claims
court and won fees plus court costs."- Click

Although Mark played drums on the group's demo, UNEARTHED will likely utilize a different drummer during the band's upcoming live appearances. - Click Here for the Full Story

J.J. Cale Returns
press release reports: To Tulsa And Back
is J.J. Cale's first new studio album since 1996's Guitar Man. But as he
says, "It doesn't seem that long." You just can't rush the good things
in life and that includes Cale, who, for his Sanctuary Records debut, went
back to his hometown of Tulsa to record.
Set for a street date of June 8, the album is at once different than albums before it while reassuringly retaining the trademark sound that has made Cale an American music legend for more than 30 years. Cale is best known for his compositions -- some of them hits for Eric Clapton and others for himself -- including "After Midnight," "Cocaine," "Call Me The Breeze," and "Crazy Mama." His songs have been covered by everyone from Lynyrd Skynyrd, Deep Purple, the Allman Brothers Band, Johnny Cash, The Band and Santana to Captain Beefheart and Bryan Ferry. Beyond the songs, his style profoundly influenced Dire Straits, Clapton and many others.
Fittingly, the album will be released right in the eye of Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival which will take place June 4-6 in Dallas. Cale will perform at the festival alongside B.B. King, Joe Walsh, Brian May, Robert Cray, Jimmie Vaughan, Robert Randolph, Steve Vai, Buddy Guy and, of course, Clapton himself.- Click Here for the Full Story
