confirmed in a radio interview that talks are underway for BLACK SABBATH
to perform at this year's Ozzfest. Asked during an appearance on the nationally
syndicated radio show "Rockline" Wednesday night (March 31) if there is
any truth to the reports that SABBATH are in negotiations to reunite for
a headlining performance at the next installment of the traveling music
festival, Osbourne replied, "I believe so." Ozzy did not confirm or deny
the rumor that Geezer Butler was once again a member of his solo band (as
reported exclusively by BLABBERMOUTH.NET on March 30), explaining that
he didn't want to say anything because he wanted to avoid getting yelled
at by his wife/manager Sharon.- Click

The company didn't identify which performers would be cut, but said they are "niche and underperforming artists" mainly in continental Europe.

that sure to infuriate anti-piracy activists and please piracy advocates
and those naughty, naughty kids who download music for free.
Today, a [Canadian]Federal Court judge ruled that downloading and sharing files on a peer-to-peer system does not constitute copyright infringement. Vines Bomb in Chicago
Rockdirt reports: Bob Gendron of the Chicago
Tribune was on hand for The Vines concert Friday (March 26) at the sold-out
Vic in front of a dissatisfied audience, many of whom booed and stormed
the exits before the group's brief 45-minute set came to a merciful end.
Gendron writes, "From the moment he set foot onstage, vocalist Craig Nicholls
sounded and acted out of sorts. Though he later played martyr by claiming
he was sick and yet still chose to perform, his prima donna antics and
cavalier attitude were more indicative of desperation and drunkenness.
Nicholls' voice was in tatters, and his sloppy guitar playing came off
like an obnoxious prank. He slurred words, intentionally sang out of tune,
bleated like a sheep, laughed at himself and made up nonsensical lines.
During a few songs, he failed to sing any actual lyrics. All the while,
his bandmates looked on in disgust. Trying to stave off further embarrassment,
the rhythm section tried to keep a steady beat and some sense of composure."-

John Kerry Loves Rap, Hates
Metal
Rockdirt reports: MTV News spoke with
Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry and asked the part-time guitarist
if there were any trends in music that have piqued his interest. "Oh sure.
I follow and I'm interested," Kerry responded. "I don't always like, but
I'm interested. I mean, I never was into heavy metal. I didn't really like
it. I'm fascinated by rap and by hip-hop. I think there's a lot of poetry
in it. There's a lot of anger, a lot of social energy in it. And I think
you'd better listen to it pretty carefully, 'cause it's important. I still
find the musicians of our generation are appreciated and extraordinarily
relevant to most of the young people I talk to today. When I go to a Bruce
Springsteen concert or when I did go to the Grateful Dead, when Jerry Garcia
was still alive, or when I'd go to the Rolling Stones, for instance, it's
all gens there's a lot of people there of all generations.-

MTV Signs Indies
Ananova reports: A dispute between MTV
and independent record labels has ended after both parties signed up to
a new deal.
The row broke out last year when the music channel's European arm attempted to get independent record companies, whose stars include Craig David, Travis and The White Stripes, to a new five-year deal.
The deal would have halved the amount independent record labels such as Telstar and Ministry of Sound receive from video rights but allowed MTV to use the material over more of its channels.
Now a deal has been struck between MTV Networks Europe and Video Performance Limited, which represents smaller labels, to show the videos.
The deal involves 167 record labels whose artists include stars such as Franz Ferdinand, Mis-Teeq, So Solid Crew, The Strokes, Basement Jaxx, Prodigy and Dizzee Rascal. - Click Here for the Full Story

L7 Still Shocking
(press release) reports: Jennifer Finch
formerly of the controversial all-girl group L7 has once again managed
to create some more hoo-ha upon retuning to the UK with new group THE SHOCKER.
On March 26, 2004 at 11:30am, The band was denied entrance to the UK supposedly
of some mishap with work papers. Detained for 24 grueling hours in a holding
cell with other deportees and criminals awaiting removal, the group was
repeatedly searched and intimately questioned before they were forced to
return to Geneva. The former vocalist and bassist had not been in the UK
since the 1995 fatal tour when a roadie for L7 died of a drug overdose
on their tour bus and made international news when one of the L7 members
chucked a tampon into the audience at the Redding Festival. Finch brought
her new band to the UK with the intention of shopping for a UK label, since
as she exclaims, 'most US record companies suck'. The band expects to have
all paper work sorted and the tour to continue as scheduled and the search
for a UK label will continue!- Click
