Limp
Bizkit Leak New CD
From Limpbizkit.com:
Ok, it's out...you can listen to Results May Vary right now. limpbizkit
is doing everything they can to give you a taste of the record now...
The Leak - on MTV.com - listen to a stream of EVERY song on the record for the next week on MTV.com
The record's done, it's mixed, it's mastered...it's streaming for you online at MTV.com right now. No reason at all to download it...you can hear it from now until 9/23 when it will be available in stores EVERYWHERE! - Grab your earplugs and click here
Now we give Fred a hard time here but he does deserve props for this courageous move. Fred fears not that letting people hear the songs will keep them from buying the CD. Then again Limp Bizkit fans aren't usually the most discerning record buyers, so it probably won't hurt.
Bono
Meets W.
AP reports: Bono,
the Irish rock star and social activist, said Tuesday he had a "good ole
row" with President Bush over global AIDS funding.
"He's very passionate about these problems and I believe him," Bono said after their White House meeting. "I just can't agree with the numbers."
Bush signed the Global AIDS Act in May that authorized $3 billion to fund global AIDS programs for 2004, but Congress has allocated only $2 billion. Both the president and members of Congress say developing countries wouldn't be able to make use of the extra money.
White House press secretary Scott McClellan said after the Bono-Bush meeting, "The president has shown unprecedented leadership in the fight against AIDS."
"The AIDS emergency
is just that. It's not a cause. We're not here peddling a cause. We're
not looking to get into America's wallet for another cause. Several thousand
people dying a day is not a cause, it's an emergency," Bono said at a news
conference after his meeting with Bush.

Why doesn't Bono and Springsteen just team up for a tour to raise money?
Rantings:
Anthrax, "Rolling Stone Should Be Stopped!"
We love it when
metal vets speak their minds, and there have been no shortage lately of
various hard rockers sounding off on a variety of topics. Today we
have Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante, giving us his take on the Rolling
Stone Magazine Top 100 Guitarist special issue and Britney Spears. Fun
stuff!
siN's metal news has this rant from Benante:
"WHO THE HELL makes these polls??
Who the hell reads ROLLING STONE MAGAZINE?
I remember a time when this magazine had some credibility. Yes, I'm that old. I was appalled to see this list of the top 100 guitarist and to find that 2 of the most influential weren't even in the top 50!!!!!
Eddie Van Halen - #70 Randy Rhoads -#85
WHAT THE f*** IS THIS?
Here are two guys who revolutionized guitar playing and they're not in the top ten?? If it wasn't for Mr. Van Halen or Mr. Rhoads there would be no Dimebag, Zakk Wylde, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai... None of those guys are in the Top 100 here are some other guitarist that beat him out- Lou Reed, Lee Rinaldo, Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth, Jack White of the White Stripes, should I go on?
This Magazine should be Stopped! Can you believe that Joan Jett beat out ANGUS f***ING YOUNG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's become "US" magazine with music. Now they have Britney on the cover trying shock us all , AGAIN. Here's a fact - When an artist does something "Shocking", it usually means that the music they made isn't very good. Take a look at Madonna's career, you'll see the blueprint for it all. I just wish Britney would just do the NUDE layout already and end it... but that'll be a bit later when all else has failed..."BRITNEY GONE WILD" will be in stores late 2005 - who's managing this kid anyway?? I know what I'm saying may not get us into Rolling Stone Magazine but... who cares? Can you imagine when they do the top 100 Drummers of all time and I come in at # 99, I will then renew my subscription to the BEST magazine in the world!!!!! Not bloody likely.
I must say that popularity polls aren't very good, it reminds me of school. Remember how s***ty that was. I hated all the popular idiots and I still do. Being popular is great and all that but I would rather come in under the radar, it's cooler..- Click Here for the Full Story
Maybe they put Joan Jett up there as an apology for the joke of a "Women In Rock" special edition? Aside from that, look at No. 17. or 26, if that isn't pandering to current taste, I don't know what is! Might as well put Wes Borland at No. 3.
Feds
Ponder RIAA Subpoenas
AP reports: A federal
appeals court panel offered few hints Tuesday whether it will permit the
music industry to continue using special copyright subpoenas to track and
sue computer users who download songs over the Internet.
The three-judge panel from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia tossed tough questions at lawyers for all sides. Judges plainly wrestled with esoteric provisions of the disputed 1998 law that permits music companies and others to force Internet providers to turn over the names of suspected pirates.
The decision, expected later this fall, could have important consequences for the music industry's unprecedented campaign to discourage piracy through fears of expensive civil penalties or settlements.
The Recording Industry Association of America, the trade group for the largest labels, has issued at least 1,500 such subpoenas this summer. It has filed civil lawsuits against 261 people it accused of illegally distributing music online and promised thousands more lawsuits.
Verizon Communications Inc. is challenging the constitutionality of the subpoenas under the 1998 Digital Millennium Copyright Act. U.S. District Judge John D. Bates earlier had approved use of the subpoenas, forcing Verizon to turn over names and addresses for at least four Internet subscribers; since then Verizon has identified dozens of its other subscribers to music industry lawyers. - Click Here for the Full Story

Mosh Injuries
Blabbermouth reports:
About 25 people who attended an all-day rock concert were treated at a
hospital for injuries, according to the Associated Press.
Most of the injuries occurred in mosh pits near stages at the X-Fest concert, which was held Sunday (September 14) at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds.
Injuries were caused by kickings, beatings and falls, with some of those injured being treated for broken limbs, according to Miami Valley Hospital.
"They weren't moshing, they were wrestling," said China Carter, 15, of Wapakoneta.
Some of the estimated 15,000 fans were treated at the concert's medical tent for sprains, dehydration, bloody noses and injuries from flying objects.
There were two stages at the concert, which featured such hard rock bands as COLD, MUDVAYNE, HOOBASTANK, SEETHER, EVE 6, SHINEDOWN, THREE DAYS GRACE, SLOTH, and V SHAPE MIND. Click Here Full Story
Moshing to Eve 6 and Hoobastank? The real moshers probably hurt them on general principles.
Alice
Cooper: Chitty, Chitty No Way!
Blabbermouth reports:
Veteran rocker ALICE COOPER has turned down the chance to star in a play
based on classic children's book "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang", World Entertainment
News Network reports.
Cooper was set to replace ballet dancer Wayne Sleep as the Child Catcher in the production in London's West End, but ended up declining the offer after watching the play last week.
A spokesman says, "Alice enjoyed the show a lot but decided the part wasn't for him.
"His schedule doesn't allow it anyway as he is about to go on tour to promote his new album."
ALICE COOPER's latest
CD, "The Eyes Of Alice Cooper", is due on Sept. 23 through Eagle Records.
