Zwan Disbanded
It looks like the Zwan song for Corgan's band.

NME reports: Former Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan confirmed this morning (September 15) that he had disbanded the outfit which featured former Pumpkins drummer Jimmy Chamberlain.

He told US radio station WGN-Ch 9: "My heart was in Smashing Pumpkins. I really enjoyed my experience with Zwan, but at the end of the day, without that sense of deeper family loyalty, it just becomes like anything else."

He continued: "Our attitude with the Pumpkins was, it was a do or die proposition, and that got us through all the hard times we went through, particularly with the Pumpkins where we had two members with serious drug problems."

Corgan formed Zwan after disbanding the Pumpkins in 2000. They released one album, Mary, Star Of The Sea', which went down well with both critics and fans. Corgan is now expected to work on solo material.. - Click Here for the Full Story

Great White Memorials Stolen
Blabbermouth reports: Two crosses dedicated to GREAT WHITE guitarist Ty Longley, who died in The Station nightclub fire, have been removed from the site of the former club, according to the Associated Press.

The crosses were reportedly removed sometime between Thursday night (September 11) and Saturday morning (September 13).

Jody King, vice president of The Station Family Fund, which offers aid to those affected by the fire, filed a police report today about the crosses' disappearance from the site, which has been turned into a makeshift memorial of crosses, teddy bears and other mementoes.

King said a member of The Station Family Fund's board was visiting the site Saturday and discovered the crosses were missing. The woman told King a note had been left where the crosses once stood, along with other mementoes such as teddy bears, candles and flowers. King provided a copy of the note to The Associated Press.

"Ty and his band killed my daughter," the handwritten message read, with a blacked out space after the last word. "I'm sorry but Ty doesn't deserve to have a cross here."

It included a warning: "As many times as something goes up, I will tear it down."

A replacement cross for Longley was placed at the site Sunday. It's in the shape of a guitar and is rooted in cement. The original crosses were made by Longley's father and girlfriend..- Learn more with the Full Story

Brujeria Banned
siN's metal news: Last week there was an announcement of BRUJERIA playing one gig this month in Southgate, CA. Well, the police department had other ideas, and the show has been cancelled. Here's the full report from the BRUJERIA camp:

"The city of Southgate as well at it's police department would not allow the BRUJERIA show to go on. It seems that Allen's Theatre is a community center where they hold many different functions, including [those of a] religious [nature]. The place has held punk shows and metal shows in the past but they have all been local bands and nothing as extreme as BRUJERIA. When word got out the community was outraged and made the owner of the theatre cancel the show. Pretty much the same thing that happened last time. BUT the Chicago show on Oct 2nd at the Aragon Ball room continues as scheduled."

What Are They Up To Now Special: Primus
In case you missed the news Primus will suck again!

AP reports: Primus will sail the seas of cheese again when they reunite to go on tour.

The "Tour de Fromage" of the United States and Canada is scheduled to begin Oct. 14 in Davis, Calif., and end Nov. 23 in Toronto. The title is a takeoff on the funk-rock trio's 1991 album "Sailing the Seas of Cheese," which they'll perform in its entirety at each concert, along with other songs.

The band said their Oct. 31 show at The Warfield in their hometown of San Francisco sold out in 20 minutes.

"It's amazing to me the response we've had for this upcoming tour. Tickets are blowing out," singer-bassist Les Claypool said in a recent statement. "The hype around these shows is something I haven't seen in the history of Primus."

The tour coincides with the Oct. 7 release of their new CD/DVD, "Animals Should Not Try to Act Like People." For the first time in seven years, audiences can see the original lineup of Claypool, guitarist Larry LaLonde and drummer Tim Alexander, who left the band in 1996.

A new feature of the day in rock, on random Tuesdays we'll give you a little 411 on some cool places on the web for rock related news that we also feature here.  This go around we look at MTV.com, RollingStone.com and  siN's metal news.

The Good: MTV.com, say whatever you want about the programming on the cable channel but MTV.com's news staff is one of the best when it comes to corporate music sources. Unlike the channel's limited musical programming, MTV.com's news tends to cover a wide range of popular genres, including a lot of rock news; with exclusive stories and interviews. Now if only some of that could spill over onto the box.  http://www.mtv.com

The Bad: RollingStone.com, they are known to have some decent but limited news story coverage but the problem is getting to it. Blind links that give you "content not available right now" pages and then bad links which send you to the entirely wrong story!  (just tried it again today and got both on the first two links I clicked on! "RS 932: Britney Spears" "The RIAA's come for your children . . . and grandparents") You would think that Rolling Stone would have their act together but they simply don't at this point in time. Not a bad source for news when you can actually get it but it tends to be limited and mostly mainstream. You're better off with MTV and Yahoo's Launch if your looking for corporate rock news sources.http://rollingstone.com/

The Indie: siN's metal news, if you're a headbanger who wants to stay on top of what's up in the world of metal, you gotta bookmark siN's metal news. Updates each day as news breaks and they even give you a heads up on the playlist for MTV2's Headbangers. They are pretty plugged into the metal scene so they also break exclusive stories as well. - http://www.smnnews.com/
