Arnold
'Wanna Rock'
Blabbermouth reports:
San Francisco Bay Area metallers SYSTEMATIC have parted ways with drummer
Paul Bostaph (ex-SLAYER) and have replaced him with Bostaph's predecessor,
Shaun Bannon.
Says vocalist/guitarist Tim Narducci, "First, as far as all of the rumors go, yes Paul did have knee surgery. We wanted to wait and see how things would go for Paul and his recovery before we could move forward and comment on the situation.
"Unfortunately, things have been slower than anticipated and collectively we all decided (including Paul) it would be best for us to find a replacement to go forward with business for SYSTEMATIC.
"For every door that closes, another opens. We have been jamming with Mr. Shaun Bannon... Holy s***! Talk about not missing a step! It has been an amazing couple of weeks and we are very proud to have Shaun back in the drummer's seat again. He was well missed!
"Other news.... we'll
we got a call to be Dee Snider's backing band at the Arnold Schwarzenneger
rally this Sunday, Oct. 5th at the State Capitol the California [to perform
the gubernatorial candidate's official campaign anthem, TWISTED SISTER's
'We're Not Gonna Take It']. We said f*** yeah! I've listened to TWISTED
SISTER since I was in 7th grade. I just wish we were doing 'You Can't Stop
Rock and Roll'. Should be fun as hell!

Arnie did not grope Dee after the show despite reports from the Davis Camp (a.k.a. LA Times). Although we did learn that Ariana Huffington wanted to use another 80's hit in her fairwell speech, "Don't you forget about me", from Simple Mind. Somehow the band name seems more appropriate than the song.
Solo
Plant Rarities
Billboard reports:
Hoping to capitalize further on the summer success of Led Zeppelin's "How
the West Was Won" CD and the accompanying DVD "Led Zeppelin," Atlantic
Records is releasing "Sixty Six to Timbuktu," a two-CD solo collection
from Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant.
Due Nov. 4, the 35-track set traces Plant's career, starting with his first solo single in 1966 through a live performance this year in Timbuktu.
The first disc features material from his solo albums, but it's the second disc that will grab fans' attention: It is full of rarities, bonus tracks, his work with pre-Zeppelin groups Listen and the Band of Joy and side projects like "Philadelphia Baby," recorded under the Crawling Kingsnakes moniker, a one-off that included Dave Edmunds and Phil Collins.
The idea for the compilation was born as Plant was sorting through tapes for the Zeppelin set, he told Billboard in an exclusive interview.- Click Here for the Full Story

Letters to the editor. The letters are piling up. So instead
of our weekly "letter of the week" we'll publish letters as they come in.
From Ross
Keavin,
Please don't take this the wrong way
I do like your unorthodox reporting but I'm curious. What happened to Antiguy?
I've been coming to this site for a few years and I was used to seeing
his name in the byline but a few weeks ago I noticed he wasn't doing it
any more.
Response: What happened to antiGUY? Short answer: antiGIRL. The real answer: After being our faithful scribe for 5 years, antiGUY decided to take a little sabbatical to work on a book. He is still contributing to antiMUSIC but is not currently reporting the news. His day gig also keeps him pretty busy and he decided he needed to take a breather from day to day reporting. So that coupled with being lobotomized by love are the reasons why you are not seeing his byline on our news articles right now. However, I did just give him the new Limp Bizkit CD to review, so that should be fun when that is published!
From Aaron
Enough with this suicide publicity
stunt already!
Response: While many believe that this is just a publicity stunt, a lot of people are still interested in it. Maybe it's morbid curiosity? Who knows? And as a developing story we are obligated to post follow ups since we reported on the story previously. It's not cool to leave people hangin'. But it does appear that the story is winding down. That doesn't mean it's over yet. So if you don't care to stay up to date on this story, just skip over it. There are plenty of other happenings in rock that are covered here. But just in case, we have the latest in this saga that was just posted to antiMUSIC. Seems a shock jock claims to have a video of the suicide probably b.s. but it seems a lot of people are interested in this story.
