RIAA
Use Child Porn?
It seems that there
may be a new weapon in the RIAA's arsenal against Peer To Peer file sharing;
child porn Rolling Stone reports:
The music industry is hoping that the availability of child pornography on peer-to-peer networks such as Kazaa will help put file sharing out of business. Record executives have been frustrated that Congress hasn't acted to curb piracy on these services, but some are now optimistic that lawmakers will intervene. "This is like Al Capone and taxes, which is how the government got him," says Jimmy Iovine, chairman of Interscope Records. "This shows peer-to-peers for what they really are."
At a September 9th Senate hearing on the connection between porn and peer-to-peer, Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, warned about the "great risk of inadvertent exposure to these materials by young P2P users." Two congressmen have introduced a bill to mandate parental consent before children can access such networks. A government report last March found that more than half the searches for files named "Britney Spears," "Pokemon" and "Olsen twins" retrieved pornography, including eight percent that contained images of children. -- Click Here for the Full Story
But will some of their artists inadvertently get caught in this net? Although Pokeman and troll twins porn, now that is disturbing.
Twisted
Arnold
Blabbermouth reports:
TWISTED SISTER frontman Dee Snider will perform the group's '80s smash
song "We're Not Gonna Take It" at an Arnold Schwarzenegger rally on Sunday
(October 5) in Sacramento.
Schwarzenegger's campaign made the announcement Tuesday (September 30) that the song was selected to be the California gubernatorial candidate's official campaign anthem.
"It is a fabulous song, like a theme song for our campaign. People really connect to it," Schwarzenegger said in a statement.
"I was very inspired by Schwarzenegger," Snider said in a statement. "I've admired him since his bodybuilding days."
The song's lyrics say in part "Oh you're so condescending/Your gall is never ending/We don't want nothin'/Not a thing from you."
"The song is meant to pump up the crowd and I think it reflects the sentiment of voters who are tired of Gray Davis' ugly politics and endless stories of campaign corruption," said Schwarzenegger spokeswoman Karen Hanretty.- Click Here for the Full Story

Green
Day Scam II
As a follow up to
a story we broke on Wednesday thanks to a reader tip! RIFTrock reports:
"Speculation has it that an unknown band called the Network which released its debut album, Money Money 2020 on Tuesday, could actually be Green Day. The album was released on Adeline Records which is co-owned by Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong and the Network's lead singer sounds very similar to Armstrong.
The members of the Network are also characters. The real names of the band members have not been given out. Instead, the band consists of: Van Gogh, who's a macrobiotic vegan from Belgium; the Snoo, a former Mexican wrestler from Argentina who was twice jailed in Texas for messing with the state; and Captain Underpants, a Swedish stutterer."- Click Here for the Full Story
Ozzy
& Kelly Duet on TV
Blabbermouth reports:
Ozzy Osbourne and daughter Kelly will perform their rendition of BLACK
SABBATH's "Changes" on an upcoming episode of "The Sharon Osbourne Show".
The song, the original version of which appeared on BLACK SABBATH's 1972 album, "Black Sabbath, Vol. 4", is included on the reissued edition of Kelly Osbourne's 2002 debut, "Shut Up", which was made available through Sanctuary Records earlier this week.- Click Here for the Full Story
Didn't they realize that the ratings for the Osbournes dropped in the second season due in part to Kelly singing? Ozzy we love you but please put your family back in the background.

Anti-Flag
Censored
Aversion reports:
Want to get a copy of Anti-Flag's record with the original cover art? You'll
have to find it at an independent record store.
The band announced that cover art for its upcoming The Terror State album was rejected by major retailers. The original cover featured a young girl in military fatigues saluting on the an O-card insert; inside on the booklet cover, she lays on the ground bleeding. Taking a page from Jane's Addiction's Ritual de lo Habitual, the act moved to release a sparse, all-black cover that calls attention to the censored packaging.
The band contends that its choice to repackage the album to get wider distribution isn't a financial one. Sure, it stands to lose out on a good chunk of album sale revenue, but, the act say, the choice to back down to corporate pressure has other motivations.
"We made a calculated
decision to forgo the artwork to get the more important, subversive message
in our music to the ears of people who have not yet discovered that there
is an alternative to purchasing music in a chain store, or do not have
access to an indie store in their area," the band wrote on its website.

JA thought up that all black cover business? It's such a fine line between stupid and clever.
Rocket
From the Offspring
More updates on
The Offspring. Seems they have a new skinsman. Chart Attack reports:
This spring we told you that long-time Offspring drummer Ron Welty had left the veteran punk band to "pursue a new project." The band have yet to permanently replace Welty, but they do have some new action going on on the drummer front.
According to The Offspring's official website, former Rocket From The Crypt drummer Atom Willard will join the band on their upcoming tour (stay tuned for dates nothing's been announced just yet). Willard comes with a good resume: besides keeping the beat for RFTC for a decade, he's also played with hipster goddess Melissa Auf Der Maur and Alkaline Trio.
..However, when fans pick up The Offspring's forthcoming album, they'll hear neither the skills of Willard nor Welty. Celebrity session drummer Josh Freese sat in on the studio for the recording of the new album, which will be released on December 2.
The Offspring fellas have long been joking that they'd name the new album Chinese Democrazy (You Snooze You Lose) in an attempt to push Axl Rose off the deep end, but the band say that the decision to use the title has "brought production to a halt." The new album will instead be called Splinter. .- Click Here Full Story
They should have stuck with that title. Although that "brought production to a halt" line is pretty funny.

Pearl
Jam Take It To The Streets
We know you can
never get enough Pearl Jam related news. Here is one from Undercover
news:
One day music fan Kevin Moyer left a gig disappointed about paying $30 to get in. He heard a street muso after the show who sounded better than the headline act and that sparked an idea. Kevin decided to put buskers together with established rock stars and see what happens.
The end result is the album Nowhere Near You which teams major names like Pearl Jam's Stone Gossard and Mike McCready, Chris Ballew of PUSA and Brad Hargraves from Third Eye Blind with street performers.
"There are over 75
musicians on the album and they all came to be involved in different ways"
Kevin Moyer tells Undercover News. "Most of the contributors were either
already friends of mine or were people whom I met during the making of
the CD. From going downtown to meet street musicians to talking to friends
of friends to simply calling artists whom I thought might be interested
in the effort". [follow the link for the rest of the story
