Michael
Jackson Ranch Raided By Cops
AP Reports: Officers
conducting a criminal investigation searched Michael Jackson's Neverland
Ranch on Tuesday. The purpose of the raid was not disclosed.
Court TV cited unidentified sources as saying the search warrant was tied to sexual-abuse allegations brought by a 12- or 13-year-old boy. Sheriff's officials and the district attorney's office refused comment.
Jackson spokesman Stuart Backerman also refused to comment on any allegations and said neither he nor Jackson knew the details of the investigation.
Sixty to 70 investigators from the Santa Barbara County sheriff's and district attorney's offices served a warrant as part of an "ongoing criminal investigation," Sgt. Chris Pappas said. No immediate arrests were made.
Backerman said Jackson and his three young children were not at the ranch at the time and have been in Las Vegas, where Jackson is making a video.
Jackson denounced media coverage of the search in a statement released by Backerman to The Associated Press.
"I've seen lawyers who don't represent me and spokespeople who do not know me speaking for me. These characters always seem to surface with dreadful allegations just as another project, an album, a video is being released," the Jackson statement said.
Detectives were expected to be gathering evidence into the night. The district attorney and sheriff planned to provide more details at Wednesday morning press conference. - Click Here for the Full Story

Michael
Kamen RIP
AP reports: Michael
Kamen, the Grammy-winning and Oscar-nominated composer who fused hard-rock
riffs with classical styling in albums for Pink Floyd and provided music
for the "Lethal Weapon" and "Die Hard" movies," has died at age 55.
Kamen collapsed in his London home Tuesday from an apparent heart attack, according to his Los Angeles-based publicist, Jeff Sanderson.
Kamen collaborated with a wide range of artists, from the London Philharmonic to Aerosmith , Metallica (Symphony) and jazz saxophonist David Sanborn.
Although Kamen was classically trained and studied oboe at New York's Julliard School, the composer's distinctive long, curly hair and beard made him look more like a heavy-metal guitarist than a classical conductor. .-Click Here for the Full Story

Industry
In Deep
Reuters reports:
The music industry is in for at least two more years of pain, with a sales
recovery not expected until 2005 at the earliest, a report said on Tuesday.
According to London-based research firm Informa Media Group, the retail value of global music sales will drop to $28.2 billion this year from $30.9 billion in 2002 and to $28 billion in 2004 before returning to growth in 2005 as new Internet music services take off.
"The music industry is in a bad way at the moment but the continued fall in the value of music sales is certainly not irreversible. The success of the new download services proves there is a viable market for legitimate digital sales," said Simon Dyson, an Informa analyst.
Dyson said the major music labels Universal Music, Sony Music, Warner Music, EMI and Bertelsmann's BMG have not acted decisively enough to stem the rise of digital piracy, which is blamed for sinking sales for three straight years.
A host of industry-backed subscription download services have emerged to address the practice of consumers making copies of their CDs and downloading songs from the Internet for free, but consumer uptake has been slow. . Click Here for the Full Story

AP Reports: Grammy-winning
singer Meat Loaf, who collapsed on stage during a concert, is being treated
for exhaustion brought on by a virus, hospital officials said Tuesday.
A spokesman for Mercury, the singer's record company, said a second concert planned for Tuesday night at London's Wembley Arena had been postponed.
Meat Loaf, 52, collapsed Monday on the first sellout date at the venue. A spokesman for North West London Hospitals said the pop star was in Northwick Park Hospital recovering "from exhaustion due to a prolonged viral infection."

Tiger
Army Fights On
Chart Attack reports:
For Tiger Army, what hasn't killed them has definitely made them stronger.
This past March the California band was given a huge scare when drummer Fred Hell was shot during a botched home robbery attempt. Hell managed to escape from his attackers, but not before being struck by four bullets. Luckily, he was able to make a full recovery after the horrific incident and is back behind the kit for the group.
Although some bands would have folded when having to deal with a similar occurrence, guitarist Nick 13 is proud to say that the experience has brought the trio much closer together. Playing with a renewed sense of passion and immediacy, he feels that the band is stronger than ever and is playing at a higher level than before.
Unfortunately, due to his rehabilitation Hell was unable to play on Tiger Army's upcoming album. The band pushed back its original recording date to try and accommodate him, but at the last minute a decision was made by the entire group to bring in a replacement. Taking his place in the studio was Mike Fasano, who has worked in some capacity on albums by everyone from A.F.I. to Eric Clapton. Nick 13 says that although Fasano played all the drum parts on the new record, Hell still managed to make his mark. .-Click Here for the Full Story

San Francisco-based Thrash video documentarians, METALLIAN PRODUCTIONS
has recently completed and released TALES FROM THE PIT #5, a nearly 3 hour
audio and visual journey into the world of true Heavy Metal.
"Since we're into this kind of music, we try to make a program that we'd like to see ourselves. We're not trendy or motivated by money; we don't care what's popular. We feature bands we love and we try to present them to the best of our ability" - Jerry Allen, Creator-Director
TALES FROM THE PIT #5 took nearly 3 years to complete due to Producer/Director JERRY ALLEN's involvement with other projects during that time, including organizing and documenting on digital video, the cancer benefit for Testament vocalist Chuck Billy - THRASH OF THE TITANS. Metallian Productions documented the entire event and conducted many interviews with the musicians in attendance. 8 cameras and 7 months of editing later and the show is only half done! Unfortunately some agreements were broken and the fate of THRASH OF THE TITANS being released on DVD is in indefinite limbo until all parties can reach a new agreement.
Producer/Director-Jerry Allen put the video on the shelf in the meantime and focused on completing TFTP#5. TALES FROM THE PIT #5 features a sneak preview- retrospect of the THRASH OF THE TITANS event, including interviews and music clips with the people who played and the people who made it happen.
Also featured on TFTP#5 is a moving tribute to original Exodus vocalist, former TFTP host and Jerry's good friend - PAUL BALOFF. The tribute features never seen before rare footage and features commentary by Paul's friends and fans.
TALES FROM THE PIT #5 is hosted by legendary Bay Area front-men, the maniacal SEAN KILLIAN of VIO-LENCE and the charismatic MARK OSEGUEDA of DEATH ANGEL.
"These programs are
labors of love and not commercial ventures. We certainly don't do it for
the money because we don't make a lot of money. Ha ha! We do this because
we want to see true metal get stronger and if we can make a difference
in our own humble way, then so be it". - Jerry Allen, Producer/Director
