Vocalist's Run For Gov
Democracy is at work in California where
voters will have the opportunity to oust "No Grey Matter" Davis from the
Governor's office for plunging the state into fiscal crisis. (When Davis
took office 5 years ago the State had a surplus but in his first four years
as Governor, aided by the hippy legislator, he increased state spending
nearly 40%. Giving the state one hell of a deficit--$38 billion dollars!
)
In October California voters will go to the polls and decide if Davis keeps his office and if not, who will replace him. The unusual nature of this election has created a free-for-all with over 100 candidates expected to seek the office.
Although the early favorite, actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, has pulled his name from the running, Californians will have at least one entertainer to choose from; T.S.O.L frontman Jack Grisham.
MTV reports: A singer perhaps best known for a song called "Abolish Government" is now hoping to join it.
Jack Grisham, frontman for the veteran punk group T.S.O.L., announced to MTV News on Wednesday (July 30) that he is running for governor of California in the controversial October 7 recall election to unseat incumbent Democrat Gray Davis.
"I can't afford heath insurance, so I figure if I'm governor, at least they have a good health insurance plan," Grisham joked. The charming singer made light of his first interview as a politician, but insisted his campaign is entirely serious.
"For years I was always, 'F--- the government. F--- the government. F--- the government.' I was always bitching and not doing a thing about it," he explained. "And the other day I said, 'Now I am.' I just got tired of seeing people hurt, that was the biggest thing. I got three sisters who are teachers, two brothers who are police officers, a bunch of friends who are labor workers, dock workers. I work with undocumented alien immigrants all the time and I got tired seeing what they go through and no one caring. And they put this new budget out and the first thing they slash is health care and the first thing they start screwing is the people."- Click Here for the Full Story

Sharon
Osbourne Show Troubles
New York Post Page Six Reports: Sharon
Osbourne, mother of three not counting infantile husband Ozzy is experiencing
labor pains with the birth of her talk show, set to launch Sept. 15 on
Ch. 11.
"We're six weeks from debuting and we really don't have a formula that works," one staffer said on condition of anonymity.
"Sharon is lovely. She's smart. Everybody loves Sharon and no one wants to do a show that will embarrass her. But the executives have changed their minds 10,000 times and it's like we're starting from scratch."
The staff, some of whom have already been working on the show for two months, are under such stress that two producers have left the office by ambulance. One suffered a seizure, the other an asthma attack Insiders say Sharon's bookers are having a hard time landing celebrities because agents are wary of putting their clients between segments on "Teens Out of Control" or "My Mother Stole My Boyfriend". - Click Here for the Full Story
