Jack
White in Bar Brawl
Rockdirt reports:
White Stripes frontman Jack White may face assault charges in connection
with a fracas Saturday night at a Detroit nightclub. According to the below
Detroit Police Department report, White got into a beef with Jason Stollsteimer,
a singer/guitarist with The Von Bondies, a Motor City band. Stollsteimer,
25, told cops that after he declined to speak with White, the rock star
"became enraged" and without warning pulled him to the ground and punched
him "on right eye approx. 7 times.". Click

Ban: #$@%...
AP reports: A California
lawmaker, upset that rock star Bono used vulgarity on live TV and regulators
have done nothing about it, wants to ban certain swear words from the airwaves.
Republican Rep. Doug Ose said he was amazed when the Federal Communications Commission refused to take action against television stations that showed the U2 frontman using an expletive at the Golden Globe Awards (news - web sites) last January.
The FCC 's enforcement bureau said in October that Bono's comment was an adjective or expletive that did not meet its definition of indecency or obscenity because it did not describe a sexual function.
"C'mon, give me a break," said Ose. "I don't think there's a parent in the country who wants to hear this stuff come out of their TV."
He introduced a bill last week that would punish television and radio broadcasters if they aired any of eight specific words and phrases. The language of the bill, the Clean Airwaves Act, is far saltier than Bono's comment. ..Click Here for the Full Story
C'mon, give me a break. You mean this bozo is wasting time on this redundant issue when there are real problems to solve in Washington? I guess it makes sense since the opposite or pro is con so therefore the opposite of progress must be congress. F#&%!
Manson
Ok With Swiss
Digital Noise reports:
Swiss authorities have decided not to press criminal charges against shock-rocker
Marilyn Manson following complaints that were made by a religious group
about Manson's stage act.
The Zurich district prosecutor's office said that it had found no evidence to back the allegations made by Switzerland-based Christians For Truth. The group claimed that Manson had incited violence and breached the Swiss law protecting religion during a concert in February 2001.
Manson, who played another sell-out concert in Zurich on November 30th, was questioned by prosecutors in the Swiss city about the complaint.
Manson rejected the accusations, and the prosecutor's office said it was persuaded by Manson's argument that his act is meant to provoke a debate about violence and religion.
Christian groups and lawmakers in Zurich had tried unsuccessfully to have the latest concert banned on grounds that Manson's views were offensive to a majority of the population. -Click Here for the Full Story

Musician Ozzy Osbourne
is making good progress after his quad bike accident and is now able to
breathe on his own, hospital officials said Monday.
The former Black Sabbath frontman was able to talk to his wife Sharon at Wexham Park Hospital in Slough, west of London, where he was taken after the accident last Monday, the hospital said in a statement.
Osbourne, 55, has been in intensive care since the accident at his estate in Buckinghamshire, southern England. He fractured his left collarbone, eight ribs and a neck vertebra and had emergency surgery shortly after admission to restore the flow to a damaged blood vessel. .-Click Here for the Full Story
Offspring:
We're Not Old
From an Aversion.com
interview: Don't suggest that the return to punk roots has anything to
do with a midlife crisis, however. The band overlooks its recent indiscretions
with the ease of combing hair over a bald spot. In fact, even though the
act's been rocking its Orange County home for nearly 20 years now, it's
still not ready to see itself as one of punk's elder statesmen.
"It is weird. I still think of the bands playing today, even the newer bands, as being our contemporaries," Noodles says. "I don't think of us as being any older than them. I guess the scene that we were a part of was Rancid, NOFX and Pennywise. We went out and toured with those guys back in the day, before anyone knew who any of us were. We definitely have a kinship with those types of bands in particular, specifically, but other bands as well."
 You remember The
Offspring's glory days, whether you scratched your head in wonder that
a punk band could get on the radio, or exalted in the rush that hearing
punk rock for the first time even if it was through the unlikely mouth
of MTV. So does the band, and Splinter is its attempt to dislodge the crippity-crappity
albums that have plagued it since cutting its ties with Epitaph. While
it's not a total success, it's still a bit of redemption for the punk outfit.

Strapping
Young Hit
Here's from the
official Century Media site, Centurymedia.com:
"Century Media has enjoyed a string of success this year at college radio. Every month we had records contending for a top 5 positions. To cap off the year properly, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD was the #1 CMJ (College Music Journal) Loud Rock record of the year! That means that STRAPPING YOUNG LAD was played more than any other artist on metal radio programs across North America. ARCH ENEMY also scored a big hit and became the longest running band on the charts this year! Anthems Of Rebellion outlasted its competiton by a long shot by lasting 16 weeks (and still going) on the CMJ and FMQB (Friday Morning Quarterback) charts. The second longest running band at those respective trade charts was CHILDREN OF BODOM. We can't wait to see what 2004 holds in store with new releases from GOD FORBID, SENTENCED and CRYPTOPSY due out."- Click Here for the full story
New
Ministry
Digital Noise reports:
Ministry have set "Houses of the Molé" as the title for their upcoming
album, which the band expects to release in the spring of 2004.
The follow-up to "Animositisomina", which was released earlier this year, promises to expand on the "wall of sound" that Ministry fans have come to expect.
"'Houses of the Molé' will be all Ministry, all the time, with a dash of sinister Southwest flavor and half the carbs," says Ministry frontman Al Jourgensen.
"Houses of the Molé" is slated for release on Sanctuary Records in the Spring of 2004. -Click Here for the Full Story
iTunes:
25 Million Served
Reuters reports:
Apple Computer Inc. said on Monday that consumers had bought and downloaded
more than 25 million songs from the iconic computer maker's iTunes online
music store.
Apple, based in Cupertino, California, also said that more than $1 million worth of iTunes online gift certificates -- sold in denominations of $20 to $200 -- and allowances have been bought since those features were added in October.
"The fact that we've done over $1 million in allowances and gift certificates shows a lot of interest on both Mac and Windows," said Chris Bell, director of iTunes product marketing, in a telephone interview.
iTunes customers buy songs at 99 cents each and then can download them to Windows computers, Mac computers or to Apple's popular iPod digital music players. Apple's music store does not work with other digital music players. -Click Here for the Full Story

Kelly
Feels Used
Ratethemusic.com
reports Kelly Osbourne remains convinced The Used frontman Bert McCracken
dated her because he was only interested in generating publicity for his
band. "I have such a black heart because of him. I truly hate him for leaving
me like that and it's so sad to hate," Kelly admitted. "I'm torn between
two feelings with him, whether he genuinely liked me for me but just couldn't
handle it or he dated me because he wanted to become more famous. Sadly,
the signs are more pointing towards the fame side. I think if I was to
come face-to-face with him now I wouldn't know whether to cry, hug him
or punch his lights out - he just really fu**ed me up." -Click
