The book will be a poignant and hilarious look at Carlin's extraordinary 50 plus year performance career, his body of work, and his personal life story.

DJ Hell teams up with Bryan Ferry
rephlektor reports: It was only a matter of time. Two genre-defining artists togetherpop music and dance music's most famous arbiters of taste, collaborating at last. DJ Hell's "U Can Dance" is an interpretation of an unreleased Bryan Ferry song, but it's one that reflects a perfect melding of two distinct personalities, a record that sounds as if the voice and music were made for each other.

Hell, of course, has been riding high on the success of Teufelswerk, his masterpiece of a double album, a journey replete with fruitful experiments and club bombs. One that has yielded both massive hits and not a tiny bit of controversy along the way. Ferry, meanwhile, has been as busy as everrecording a new album, performing in places as far afield as Siberia, opening up the Cannes Film Festival...basically just being Bryan Ferry.

And now here they are together...It all started in 2006 when Hell dropped in to meet Ferry at his West London studio. At first they discussed Hell remixing an old Roxy Music track, and then it turned into something else - something new (U Can Dance). - more on this story

Eban Schletter To Deliver A Spaced Out Christmas Album
PR reports: Because Christmas is a time of tradition, it is only fitting that this year's crop of holiday music offers a look into "Christmas Past" with classic artists such as Bob Dylan and Neil Diamond interpreting old standards. And, of course, there are re-releases of quintessential yuletide fare such as the Jackson 5 Ultimate Christmas Collection and Phil Spector's A Christmas Gift for You.

In sharp contrast, one artist has his sights set on "Christmas Future" and outer space. With his new album, Cosmic Christmas, Eban Schletter creates a sonic vision of yuletide spirit adrift far into the galaxy. Not content to simply record Theremin versions of Christmas songs you might have heard thousands of times, Schletter created a concept album which takes the listener on a journey through a strange and poetic tale worthy of The Twilight Zone. The mise-en-scne: a military satellite finds itself in the midst of a musical "transmission" which forces it to rethink its primary directive. Original songs, like "What Will Become of Christmas" (sung eloquently by Grant-Lee Phillips), melodiously underscore the evolution of this artificial intelligence.

This decidedly "artsy" turn may be surprising to those who know Eban Schletter as the man behind the music for TV shows like SpongeBob Squarepants, Mr. Show with Bob & David and Drawn Together. But those familiar with his score to the indie film The Cabinet Of Dr. Caligari and his previous CD releases, in particular Witching Hour, The Civilian and Frontiers, will no doubt find this a perfectly logical addition to his eclectic repertoire. - more on this story
