B Sides for 02/01/2012
SNL alum Jim Breuer is a well known lover of metal who has professed his love of Metallica and AC/DC on several occasions. That's why it was so surprising that the man who brought us "Goat Boy" recently declined a chance to roast one of the biggest names in metal Zakk Wylde. As it turns out, his absence was much more than a scheduling conflict. Noisecreep reports that Breuer recently explained (in ugly detail) why he passed on the opportunity to be among metal royalty at the roast. As Breuer tells it, a belligerent sounding Wylde contacted him about four years prior to develop a 'Chappelle Show'-type comedy show infused with rock. The pair then met in New York and Breuer claims that Zakk was drunk and made such harsh racial statements in a Chinese restaurant that the employees were scared to take their order. more on this story

Cooper and his band - Chuck Garric, Steve Hunter, Tommy Henriksen, Keri Kelli and Glen Sobel - played a blistering 60 min set for a huge crowd of rowdy Harley Davidson-loving Alice fans. The group played classics, a few covers, Alice gave away a brand new Harley, the stage lit up with fire, there were the infamously... ahem... attractive Show Harley Girls on stage for the biker classic "Born To Be Wild." Check out video from the show here.
Metal Injection was on the scene, as correspondent Johnny Orlando, Jr. was on the red carpet interviewing all the big stars as they arrived, including Zakk himself, Slayer's Kerry King, Corey Taylor of Slipknot/Stone Sour, Anthrax's Scott Ian, Fozzy's Chris Jericho, Jesse James Dupree, SiriusXM Liquid Metal/Headbangers Ball host Jose Mangin and comedians Jim Norton, Brian Posehn and Jim Florentine. One of the most genuine, committed and interesting British bands of the '90s, The Manic Street Preachers' brand of political rock was a biproduct of their tough upbringing in depression-hit south Wales. With coal mines closing and the economy in tatters, the band were on their way to emulating '70s icons The Clash in powerfully blending pop and politics when they hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Lyricist and rudimentary guitarist Richey Edwards disappeared from the Embassy Hotel in London, never to be seen again. It was a shock to all concerned, since he'd been scheduled to fly to America for some promotional work the next day. Instead, Edwards' passport was found back at his home in Wales and his car left unattended in a motorway service area near the Severn Bridge. more on this story
